what only You could do
Lord you are the way

and today you
showed us the way
to a life that gave us
this
the beginning
of a new day
all because you said
Father, “not as I will, but as you will”
Oh Lord what a sacrifice
to take on our sin
to take on our shame
to take on our shortcomings
you took it all
you took it all on the cross
and did it with such joy and love
in the midst of such pain, suffering and sorrow
all so we could receive
this
the promise of a new tomorrow
Lord Jesus, this horrific and cruel death
may not have been your preference
but it was the Father’s will
so you submitted and surrendered fully
and because you did this
Lord, I stand here today
we stand here today
covered by your blood
covered by your love and forgiveness
covered by your boldness and courage
we stand here today in the power
of your victory
to have new life
to have new joy and an overflowing peace
that now
rules in our hearts
Oh Lord, we revere you
more and more and more
we honor you
more and more and more
we love you
more and more and more
so may I and we
like you
step into our Heavenly Father’s preferences
step into his will
because we now share your heart
we share your love
and it is this love
the magnitude of your love
the magnitude of what you did on the cross
that just has me just so overwhelmed with the glory
of your presence
so my only response is to look at my own heart
and to say
that I lay
the attachment to my own preferences at your feet
help me become free of them
Holy Spirit,
teach me
apprentice me
sanctify me
and purify me
so like Jesus
my eyes too look only to the Heavenly father
so I too
especially in the hardest moments
the toughest moments
even when my flesh might be yelling and screaming
with its own preferences
that I too
let
them
go
so no longer am I owned by my preferences
because I am now owned by Jesus Christ of Nazareth
that i too
am now
owned by the Heavenly’s father will
owned by His preferences
owned by His plan
and can call on the Holy Spirit
in the difficult moments
to quiet me
with your perfect peace
giving me the grace and strength
to answer the Father
to let God work through
so Lord, today and everyday
my heart is yours
help me to follow your steps
help me to run this race with my eyes fixed on you
and only you
as it was your plan
and your will
that planted this
the most joyous mission
of a lifetime
in my heart
a life being present to your glory
a life being present to how far you went for us
how you will never relent in loving us
as what you did today
was the start of redeeming us
I mean Lord Jesus
we just have to shout it out
that you freed us!
