The colors of your love
Inspired by a morning prayer walk and the scripture below!
Ephesians 3:16-19 “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—
that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
Lord, oh my oh my!
How did you decide to make fall so majestic??!!
the leaves go from evergreen and then
slowly
slowly
slowly
reds, yellows and oranges appear
but as I looked even closer today
the depth, richness and tapestry of these colors
held my attention
just
long
enough
where I was overcome
by the colors of your love
I felt the depth of your character from above
I felt it through these leaves
oh my oh my
a crispy orange, a sunrise red and a purple mystery
from this your Japanese Maple
lept out to me
as to say
“look at me”
“look at me”
“look at me”
One gaze Lord, into these
your precious leaves
shook my soul and touched my heart
I felt a new sense of peace
by how you spoke to me
as to say
please oh please
“don’t miss me
I will fill you with love and joy
from a living giving water that lives in me”
Oh Lord
I believe more and more
you just want me
to look at you
to walk with you
and to just keep fully surrendering
to you
that there is nothing else I need to do
except to sit with the beauty
in the colors of your love
but I do have to confess Lord
that at times I miss your gaze
I try to do things by my own ways
I miss your gentle voice reaching out
I am so sorry when I walk past you
and don’t even see you
and go looking to fill up outside you
to seek pleasure
instead of resting into your eternal treasure
but now Lord…it is only you that can fill me
as you once said “Blessed are those who hunger
and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
You have filled me up Lord
filled me
filled me
filled me
I am overflowing now with your joy
because of you
I just want to bump into your children
and share with joy all the ways
you renewed me
restored me
and replenished me so full
I can’t wait to share
the good news of a life in Christ
I mean how can I not tell people
the testimony of goodness
how you made me into your witness
the way you came running after my heart
that before you
my never ending pursuit of
“more” pleasures of the world
only left me
so empty, tired and lost
always left longing and searching
as the hole in my heart could
never be filled by the lore
of society’s definition of more
But I BELIEVE Lord
you
couldn’t
stand
this
and finally said
“Jon!
I am
ENOUGH!
Lord Jesus
you came to set me free
to rescue me
to reveal your character to me
and to help me
revel in a love so wide and long
and deep
so much so
that it overwhelms me
like today
how I could walk in the morning
uncovering a new layer of your love
my eyes and heart were so touched
and moved by your colors of your love
the shades and hues of
your artistry in this
a wondrous tree
what I saw through your leaves
forever changed my heart
I realized that I used to see your love as just the
evergreen before the fall
but I now I see your glory
has no end
and the beauty of your love just
gets better
and better
and better
so thank you Lord
because you work
so tirelessly to fill me everyday
with a new more
as
the more you teach me your ways
the more you teach me to see
the more you teach me just
feel and rest into your love
I realize
I don’t need anything else
because it is the honor
of a lifetime just to see you
and let my heart
be overwhelmed
be overwhelmed
by the colors
of your love
