Glory to Glory in every season
Inspired by my brother and sister Yemi and Oyebola and how much I am understanding more of Jesus’ character in their Fullness ministry. And to my beloved Create group at The District Church…I just love how none of us could answer the question “what is your favorite season?”
Just like you can never box in the expansiveness of God’s love…You can’t box in a creative with how they express themselves, because the love of Christ is living in us.
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NJKV) “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
Glory to Glory
this is what is promised
by our Lord God
that a life with Him just gets better and better
radiant and more radiant
splendor upon splendor
it is like the seasons
just when I think Winter is gone on too long
spring is here and we get to see the first sight of cherry blossoms
flowers spring up turning seas of brown
into rivers of yellow, red, blue, magenta and green
the birds sing a little louder as each day
something new is blooming
God, you truly are a God who fulfills
the promise of glory to glory
just when I want the days to last longer and feel more
of your warmth…you bring summer
the long nights we anticipate
because they give us a break from the heat of the day
we gather together to create, make music
and live in a season of ease and play
oh Lord, how I love the ways you have us feel
glory to glory
just when the days are too hot
and the mosquitos seem to never take a break
or go on leave
you are there to give us a reprieve
a light crispness of cool
grabs our face and attention to remind us
not too worry…fall is here…green leaves
become tapestries of orange, red and yellow
always changing and falling
just like as we seek you more of you Lord
we become more colorful, light, simple and free
mirroring more of your radiance and glory
as our past pains and all that is not you fall away…
because a life with a God like you
is truly a journey of glory to glory
just when that crispness could be a little stronger
or we want to go from a light jacket to a bundle
you bring us winter
where we change to a new cold
but the frigid air enlivens our bodies
and give us a chance to savor the warmth
of a tea, hot cocoa, coffee or cider
because as your seasons evolve so do our tastes
what was once too hot in the summer now becomes a joy
oh Lord sometimes I sit in awe at how you are
a God of glory to glory
that like the seasons a life with you is one where
we never stay the same because
you are a God of transformation
a God for every season
in this moment I wonder how you picked each of our seasons
but truly I don’t have to know
because the mystery of your majesty
has me shaking my head in pure amazement
at just how far you will go
to form us into your image
so I praise and thank you Lord
as this journey of glory to glory
truly has me basking
in the radiance
of your glow
